Welcome to our latest edition of YogaSetu Newsletter (YSN)! In this edition, we have a diverse range of items that delve into the profound impact of mindfulness and self-discovery through the practice of yoga.

First up, we have a captivating poem titled “Cycle of Suffering” by Ajmal Sobhan, MD. Through powerful poetry, Dr. Sobhan skillfully portrays how our reactions to negative events from the past or present can trap us in a relentless cycle of anger, guilt, regret, and remorse. This poignant piece echoes the teachings of the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, which advocate cultivating mindfulness and detachment to break free from the mental cycle of suffering.

In the midst of a world turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals are experiencing a profound sense of disorientation. There is a surge in chronic stress, sleep issues, loneliness, depression, and anxiety. A recent study published in Frontiers In Psychology (2023) examined the impact of practicing Yoga on mental health during the pandemic.

Please see the article’s positive conclusions we highlight in this issue.
