Yoga practitioner E.S.O., PhD, sends the following message about her transformative yoga experience:
“I have long been an avid pilates follower; for years, I exercised daily on my pilates machine. Today, I am also a yoga follower! Although pilates improved my posture and strength, I can now add flexibility, improved breathing, flattened abdomen. “Body and Soul” is now my mantra. While not yet fully able to meditate, I am more relaxed and in control of my breathing than previously. I am 75 years old, yet feel like I’m 50!
I’ve felt the benefit of doing yoga in several significant ways. For instance, my health history indicates osteoporosis, but I know that the exercise I get from Yoga will have lasting influence on the strengthening of my bones. As another example, I recently experienced chest pressure and consulted with a cardiologist. It is an unfortunate reality that the uncertainty and challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic can result in stress-related symptoms such as that. Following several months of breath training and yogic exercise with Dr. Abha Gupta, my physical and emotional well-being has improved, and I no longer experience the chest pressure.
Dr. Gupta compassionately demonstrates the positions/exercises in friendly weekly meetings by virtue of Zoom. I also had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Dilip Sarkar, who gave me valuable lifestyle advice.
I now practice ten minutes daily, continue my weekly session with Dr. Gupta and work at meditation exercises. Mentorship and training in the yoga principles are clearly helping me achieve a personal relationship with my mind and body.”
