Happy International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2020!
Since its inception in 2014, the IDY has been celebrated annually on this day, which is also the day of northern summer solstice. To help promote continued physical fitness and well being in the Hampton Roads community in Virginia, I would like to share the following links for a yoga practice protocol provided by India’s Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy, the indigenous alternative medicine systems in India).
Links provided by the AYUSH Ministry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-GJh9GeOxE (providing an overview and about 45 minutes of yoga practice)
https://yoga.ayush.gov.in/yoga/common-yoga-protocol (providing yoga protocol in various regional languages of India)
As usual, we will have our online afternoon Yoga session between 4:30-5:30 PM on Sunday (see write-up below for special online offerings during this COVID-19-aware time); however, you might also like to participate in the online celebration by the United Nations on June 19th as indicated here.
Enjoy these and other links we include in this special issue of YSN!

For your safety and that of the community, to be able to continue to “meet” for our weekly yoga therapy sessions, two yoga sessions will be offered online every Sunday, one in the morning (EST) and the other in the evening (EST). The Chair Yoga session is for 30 minutes, for those with restricted movements, whereas the Restorative Yoga session will focus on traditional yoga, and will be conducted between 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm.
See https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7k9Di3t831Af6xgmk32lQ/featured?disable_polymer=1 for copies of our past sessions.
A brief description of each session and the information required to join the sessions via Zoom are provided on our website here: https://yogasetu.org/onlineyogatherapysessions
